Sales Page in a Day: Tips for Writing a Conversion-Driven Page

Creating a "sales page in a day" might sound daunting, but sometimes, it's necessary. Whether an exciting idea demands immediate sharing, or procrastination has left you with no other choice, crafting a quick, effective sales page becomes a priority. Normally, I'd advise taking a few days to plan your message, outline the narrative, and polish the draft. But when time's not on your side, here are essential tips for getting your sales page done in a day.

Tip 1: Know your value proposition

Before even starting to write, it's crucial to be super duper clear on your offer's unique selling proposition (USP). Ask yourself, what does your offer provide that virtually no other solution can?

Think about how your offer is different from...

  • free solutions (especially now that we have AI)
  • paid solutions that are delivered in the same way - e.g if you're selling a course, how is it different from other courses on the same topic?
  • paid solutions delivered in a different way - e.g. how is your course a better solution than hiring a coach?

Tip 2: Know your 3 key messages

If you're not already clear on the pain points your offer addresses and the desired outcomes it helps your buyers achieve, you might struggle to write your sales page in a day. In fact, it may be a good idea to explore our Messaging Clarity Journal before attempting to do so. However, if you do have a clear understanding, challenge yourself to distill this into three key messages. These should be the core ideas you rinse and repeat throughout your sales page, ensuring the main concepts resonate clearly with your audience. This focus on clarity and repetition is precisely why our sales page templates include a dedicated messaging guide.

3 key messages example

If you're selling a course that teaches people how to create better reels on IG to promote their business, your 3 key messages may center around:

  • The fact that reels are the best way to get noticed on IG and Facebook right now
  • That your offer helps them create reels without having to dance, lip sync, or spend hours each week filming B-Roll
  • That your offer helps them create reels that are aesthetically pleasing, entertaining for their ideal clients, and go beyond the basic, surface-level, free information they'll find on IG from social media "experts"

Tip 3: Use templates

Who saw that coming? Using a solid, professionally-prepared sales page template doesn't mean your content will come off as cookie-cutter. Instead, it's a savvy strategy to speed up the creation process while ensuring your page is optimized for conversions.

Our sales page copy templates streamline the outlining process, eliminating the guesswork about whether you’ve covered all necessary bases. They’re tailored to specific offers, whether that’s boosting your membership, enhancing your VIP day, or increasing sales of your low-ticket items, providing a targeted approach to conversion optimization.

Tip 4: Build a swipe file

Writing a sales page in a day requires ongoing preparation, but one effective strategy stands out: build a swipe file for inspiration. Consider swiping two key elements:

  • Examples of sales pages (or copy/messaging) that resonate with you.
  • Language directly from your ideal clients.

This dual approach accelerates the writing process by providing a clear structure reference and offering language that can be almost directly copied and pasted to describe your offer and the solutions you provide.

Tip 5: Use AI (sparingly)

Relying on tools like ChatGPT can be really helpful to speed up your sales page writing - but be careful. Not everything it spits out is actually going to help you convert potential buyers
